Spearfishing in Italy?

I'll be traveling to Italy next weekend (Folonica) and hesitate should I take my speargun or not...
I checked that spearfishing is ok (no permission needed as long as the "rules" are followed http://spearfish.org/e107_plugins/forum ... pic.php?57)

The big question is: what about the fishes & conditions ? would be great to hear if someone already been there !

I only been once in Sicily. nothing special. I heard that Calabria is a good place, good luck!
